Hands-On LG KU990 Viewty + Samsung G800

Let's take a sneak peek at the flagship models of big time Korean makers Samsung and LG. Both of these phones are equipped with 5Mpx auto focus cameras. LG Viewty features an unbelievable 120 fps video recording at QVGA resolution which is pretty impressive IMO. As far as I know, not even stand alone digital cameras are capable of recording videos with such high frame rate. Just like the mighty Nokia N95, LG Viewty can also record videos at VGA resolutions. LG Viewty is a HSPDA, Flash UI powered touchscreen phone with built-in DivX player and strobe flash for brighter night shots. On the other hand, HSPDA Samsung G800 offers the WOW factor such as 3X optical zoom with true xenon flash, face detection, high ISO option plus the ability to capture VGA videos too. If that's not enough, Samsung G800 comes with TV out feature and comes pre-installed with document viewers for PDF, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

Official Pictures of Samsung G800

Samsung has recently published the official product images of their 5Mpx marvel G800. Look at how the sliding mechanism on the camera lens looks like, it kinda resembles the ones installed on a real digicam too like Sony Ericsson K850! Nokia N82 where are you anyway?! I'm sure there will be a very tough battle among the 5Mpx camera phones in December!

Remember the leaked photo two months ago? Samsung finally made i550 official and even surprised us with their announcement of their fashion phone branded as Giorgio Armani-Samsung P520! It seems that Samsung wants to try what LG has done (apparently the latter teamed up with a famous fashion brand icon PRADA). Let's just say Samsung also wants a piece of cake too! Nokia, I think Vertu is too expensive for their features! Don't ya think it's time to team up with non Nokia owned well known fashion brand?

Samsung's Next i-Phone Thing?!

Samsung have recenlty received the "IF Communication Design Award 2007" in digital media UI category with their soon to be available CROIX powered touch screen phone F700, sporting 5Mpx camera and a flash based interface just like the stylish LG Prada.

F700 is based on the CROIX user interface which is a finger-based touch-input system in a crossed layout of menus and lists. Which brings us to - CROIX - means "cross" in English.

Many speculates that this model will be Apple iPhone's (another) next serious competitor! Apparently because of its full touch-screen interface..

Samsung proudly announced too that they won 3 Guinness World Records with their mobile phones. The company said that their 5.9mm thick U100 mobile was recognized as the world's slimmest phone in the 2008 edition of the Guinness World Records.

Meanwhile, its 8.4mm thick Z370 were given the title as the slimmest 3G phone whilst last but definitely the best among the rest is Samsung's whopping 10Mpx camera phone B600 which obviously won for having the highest image resolution in a cameraphone available to date.

New Samsung i450 Symbian 3.2 Phone!

Well, well (and another well). It makes me wonder sometimes why other manufacturers such as Samsung were again (AFAIK) the first one to announce (actually leaked info) a Symbian OS 9.3 powered device like i450! Yes, this is the first S60 9.3 smartphone I know to date. I wonder when will Nokia utilize the 9.3 or better yet Symbian 9.5 OS into their phones - "MORE AT ONCE"! =)

Samsung i450

Samsung G800 5Mpx - Xenon Flash & 3X Optical Zoom!?

Samsung G800Wow! This is really interesting, right after G600's announcement comes the big daddy - G800! This is not officially announced by Samsung yet but rumors said that this model is due early 2008 next year. G800 measures 103 x 51 x 16.8mm and features a 2.4" QVGA OLED display, microSD slot, bluetooth 2.0 (with A2DP I assume), stereo speakers, either HSDPA or 3G support plus EDGE as well as camera centric features such as camera OSD (On-Screen Display) multi, mosaic, panorama, best pic (like Cybershot's?! WTH!), macro shot, video stabilizer effect, suppression, "red eye", xenon flash and an amazing 3x optical zooming lens.

I just can't imagine what Nokia has in store for us. I wonder when will be the successor of N93i be announced? Conversely, I can picture a serious fight of future imaging kings between the rumored N82, SE K850 and Samsung G800 in the last quarter this year!

Samsung G800
One thing is for sure, at the end we consumers will ultimately benefit from all of these toughening competition, giving us highly feature-packed mobile phones from one to another!

Samsung G600 5 megapixel Phone

Samsung G600Samsung joined the bandwagon (at least in non-Korean and Japanese markets) with the latest addition to their thin and stylish mobile phones. Samsung G600 is a quad band EDGE mobile phone equipped with 5mpx auto-focus camera plus LED flash & 4x digital zoom, RDS capable FM radio, bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, microSD slot and a 2.2" QVGA resolution 16M TFT color screen. All those features are fitted on an incredibly thin 14.9mm slider body.

Both LG and Nokia were the first ones to introduce 5mpx cameraphones (outside of Japan and the Korean markets, AFAIK), we'll see how Samsung G600 fares in terms of picture quality and camera ergonomics both in hardware and UI against N95, LG KG920 and the much awaited K850 later this year.

Samsung G600 are planned to be released in August 2007 in the European market with a suggested retail price of 400 Euros.
