Nokia today announced the shipping start of the Nokia N95 8GB multimedia computer. To celebrate its launch, Nokia has teamed up with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) to offer a Nokia N95 8GB which comes pre-loaded with the full-length feature film in Europe and selected countries in Middle East and Africa region.

The movie sees Spider-Man's suit turn jet-black and enhance his powers and, in its latest incarnation, the Nokia N95 has undergone a similar transformation to emerge as the Nokia N95 8GB. The device has a sleek black cover and its enhanced powers include up to 8GB internal memory, a large 2.8 inch QVGA display and superior speakers. For the first time, full multimedia use of the two-way slide design and dedicated media keys allow users to control video on their mobile just as they would on DVD: play, pause, fast forward and rewind. The movie comes in ten languages and subtitle combinations. Part of the same range as the hugely successful Nokia N95, the Nokia N95 8GB also includes a unique Spider-Man(TM) 3 message and ring tone, wallpaper and screen saver, specially crafted for the new device. Spider-Man(TM) 3 games, ring tone and additional video clips will also be available via the Download! Catalog in selected countries.

Nokia selected Spider-Man(TM) 3 to show off the full capabilities of the device due to overwhelming demand from Nokia Nseries users. When asked which film Nokia Nseries users wanted to watch on their device, Spider-Man(TM) 3 was voted the 'most wanted movie'. The film also has huge global appeal as the #1 grossing film of 2007 at the international box office.

The device's eight gigabytes internal memory capacity means more music, more movies. DVD-like quality video capture and control allows film fanatics to create their own movies and share their creations and favorite movies with others by using the easy 'transfer to PC functions', allowing uploads to their social networking profiles and other online sites. SanDisk 6 & 8 GB microSDHC - watch out iPhone!

After Samsung's 8GB microSD announcement last May, SanDisk proudly announces its largest capacity in microSDHC format to date. This addresses the need of the ever increasing storage requirement of modern mobile phones equipped with media players and cameras capable of recording videos in VGA @ 30fps as well as other devices with microSD slot (compatible with SDHC specification). Both capacities are expected to be available before the year ends with prices left unknown.

SanDisk also announces the availability of their largest Memory Stick Micro (M2) into the retail market. The new card is expected to be available worldwide this summer with a suggested retail price of $99.99.

The M2 format was co-developed by SanDisk and Sony Corporation to meet the growing storage needs of highly compact, multimedia mobile phones. The M2 measures 0.59” long x 0.49” wide x 0.05” high, or 15mm x 12.5mm x 1.2mm, making it the second smallest flash memory media in the world, behind the microSD™ format, which SanDisk pioneered.

We can expect the prices of 4GB and lower capacity cards to go down eventually when these high capacity cards are finally released =)

MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, June 27, 2007 – SanDisk^® Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) today announced that it is has begun sampling 6- and 8-gigabyte (GB)¹ microSD™ High Capacity (microSDHC™) flash memory cards to major phone manufacturers and mobile network operators (MNOs) for testing and evaluation. The new cards are ideal for the growing number of feature-rich multimedia handsets that bring together phones, music players, hand-held computers, digital cameras and more. An 8GB microSDHC card can store more than 2,000 digital songs, or more than 5,000 high-resolution pictures, or up to 5 hours of high-quality MPEG 4 video².


Retail release of the cards and availability to phone manufacturers and network operators are planned for later in 2007. Pricing has not yet been determined.

SDHC is the designation for any SD™ or SD-based card that is larger than 2GB and adheres to the new SD 2.00 specification required for cards and hosts to support 4GB to 32GB capacities. The specification was developed by the SD Association, an industry standards board, which has also created three classes to define minimum sustained data transfer speed. These cards adhere to the SD Speed Class 4 Rating³.
