Use Your Nokia S60 Phone As A Webcam!

Tired and bored of your USB webcam? Now you can forget bringing it and use your spanking new webcam with you wherever you go!

Oh yeah, you heard me correctly, as long as you have your Nokia smartphone with ya, that's possible with "WWIGO" from Motvik Technologies. After you have installed the application you can now convert your camera phone into a webcam for use with applications such as Skype, Yahoo IM, MSN, YouTube, Grouper, Movie Maker etc.

WWIGO (pronounced 'vigo') stands for Webcam Wherever I Go. With WWIGO, a camera phone can be used as a webcam with PC or Laptop using bluetooth as the transmission medium.

WWIGO

It consists of two software components:

  • mobile component that resides on phone and streams video to PC
  • PC component that receives video

Features

  • Use Camera Phone as Wireless Webcam
  • Record videos with wwigo PC application
  • Use along with skype yahoo messenger windows live messenger to do video chat
  • Live Upload with YouTube grouper to share video
  • Video Quality better or comparable to off shelf webcam*
  • Works with popular Bluetooth Stacks on PC
  • Supported devices Nokia Series 60 v2.0 and Series 60 v3.0 phones (see devices in download page)

*Better or comparable depends on the specific phone used (N70=2mpx; IMAGINE.. what more if you use N73.. or N95 perhaps)

Does this application work with Nokia 5700? Cause when you click to download it, the 5700 is not among the models that are listed there.

When I go to install the file, it says "Bluetooth is not present in your PC/laptop. Aborting installation." What do I do?

Where do I get the bluetooth drivers from? I don't see anything bluetooth related in my Device Manager.

first, i need to know whether u r using a desktop PC or laptop. if ur using a desktop PC, most desktop PCs do not have bluetooth built in. if u r using a laptop, please leave d model and make in this forum. if ur using WinXP on ur laptop, d device drivers should be available and installable almost automatically when u use/activate bluetooth. u may also click on START > CONTROL PANEL > SWITCH TO CLASSIC VIEW then find the icon for ur bluetooth device to check if ur machine really has bluetooth. reminder, WWIGO for S60 only works with bluetooth enabled PC/laptop which has one of the mentioned bluetooth stacks.

addendum, while u r on device manager, do u see any device with a question mark or exclamation mark? if so, then i guess u have to check what type it is.. it myt be ur bluetooth device with wrong/incompatible or no drivers installed!

It is a desktop PC, motherboard P5W DH Deluxe. It would be stupid if it only works with laptops, because I would just buy a laptop that has a built in webcam, so what's the point of the application?

The only exclamation in device manager is under Network Adapters, called "USB Device" and "WAN Miniport (IPX)".

i think this application is really meant for older model laptops which doesn't have any built in webcams. let's say, u happen to have an older laptop that do not hav a built in webcam, this application will come in handy in that case.. if u still wish to use ur S60 phone as ur webcam to ur desktop PC with WWIGO, ur only option is to buy a bluetooth usb adapter (which btw, more expensive than new stand alone webcams). u've got a cool ASUSTek MB dude.

Is this what you mean I need to buy? because I don't mind spending $20.
