CorePlayer Coming To Symbian Phones!

CorePlayerCorePlayer™ Mobile - Enables Next-Generation digital media to be played anywhere!

I'm not sure if this is goin' to be a new addition (aside from N81, N82, N95 8GB and Nokia's music store) at Nokia's event "Go Play" announcement in London on the 29th at the Ministry of Sound locale but this is definitely hot news when it comes to playing media files on your S60 device. Mind you this particular player can play not just videos but a hefty of audio formats too with built-in equalizer to boost! Sounds pretty good. Isn't it? Well anyway, if you haven't heard of the CorePlayer then read on...

The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP) is a software media player. Supported operating systems include Windows, Windows CE, Windows Mobile, Windows Smartphone, Palm OS and Symbian OS. In 2007, CoreCodec plans on renaming TCPMP to BetaPlayer and will expand on the supported platforms by releasing COM, .NET, Linux (GTK+), Linux (QT), Linux (QTopia), and Apple Computer's Mac OS X versions.

TCPMP supports many audio, video, and image formats, including AC3, HE-AAC, AMR, DivX, FLAC, H.263, H.264, JPEG, Monkey's Audio, MJPEG, MPEG-1, MP2, MP3, Musepack, MS-MPEG4-v3, PNG, Speex, TIFF, TTA, Vorbis, WAV, WavPack and XviD. It supports many container formats, including 3GP, ASF, AVI, Matroska, MPEG, OGG, OGM and QuickTime. Some formats, such as H.264, require a plugin, which may hamper performance.

CorePlayer™ Mobile is a technology agnostic media solution which transforms mobile devices like mobile phones, PMP, GPS, and PDA's into a next-generation multimedia experience without the need to replace legacy hardware.

CorePlayer Mobile combines the 'best in class' codecs like the included CoreAVC H.264 video decoder as well as introducing new technologies like CoreCast, a free Open Source alternative to an enhanced podcast utilizing the power of the Matroska multimedia container.
